Happy World Book Night!
Today across the UK, Ireland, Germany and the US almost 80,000 people
will give over 2 million books to spread their passion for books
and reading in their communities and encourage new people to fall in
love with reading.
In the UK and Ireland, 20,000 givers including the Duchess of Cornwell
and Stephen Fry will be giving specially printed copies of the 25 books.
There are givers all across the country from the Shetlands to the
Channel Islands and almost every populated corner in between. In
addition more than 70,000 books will be going in to over 110 prisons for
prisoners as well as their families (to enable shadow reading) and
staff.
This year the books include an extract from another book recommended by
the author to encourage recipients on to their next, as well as a
Shakespeare sonnet chosen by poet Don Paterson to celebrate our greatest
writer's birth and death day.

and get involved with World Book Night 2013 as well as what the titles
will be and which new countries will be celebrating. We won't be
announcing anything for 2013 till later in the year but you will be one
